And he closed his eyes and prayed in the silences of his soul.

“But as he descended the hill, a sadness came upon him and he thought in his heart”

How shall I go in peace without sorrow?”

The prophet was a book that changed my life,

by Lebanese American writer Kahlil Gibran.

As you read listen to : Dreams by Al Green

Kahlil Gibran had also written a book called “ Secrets in my Heart”

One of my core memories was my mom pounding her chest when she got stressed out and felt like she couldn’t express herself or even know how to or just to physically display that she had secrets in her heart. She did by then saying that.

Years later I also developed the habit of saying that I had secrets in my heart when I felt sad, and instead of pounding my chest I wrote letters. The person I would write letters to started using the phrase I have secrets in my heart when he wanted to express something difficult which I thought was very sweet because that saying was once a secret. The very person gave me the book “ The Prophet”

Then a year after that I find that Kahlil Gibran also had a book titled that.

As I type this I realized there was a typo. Instead of “Silences” it was written as “Silenced” :’)

Which is funny, kinda like the meme “were you silent or silenced.”

this will be the last run of this typo in a sticker sheet form.

The prophet is a book I believe everyone needs to read once, and or is very lucky when gifted or recommend it.

I read it on my flight from Flordia back to Philly— with so much thoughts and doubts in my head. It cured me, it felt like it gave me the answer I needed.

My grandma always told me that if I needed a sign, I should grab the bible and flip to a random page.

The passenger next me to probably felt so bad every secret tear I wiped away, he went to sleep after

That book became my bible, funnily enough.

SECRETS OF MY HEART

One of my favourite thing I love about Kahlil Gibran is that when you read his words it feels as if you’re reading the language of his soul, the visuals of his mind, and the colours he paints with his eyes. Maybe that’s dramatic but I love the way he describe and loves life.

Then the gates of his heart were flung open, ( ARE YOU KIDDING ME) and his joy flew far over the sea.—-”

“And he closed his eyes and prayed in the silences of his soul.”

Was the quote from the first page of the prophet. When I read it, it was what felt like listening to your favourite song for the first time, but instead of my ears bursting with sensation, my eyes were filled with tears. I made a playlist a year and a half ago, named after that with the description being “ it’s always what are you thinking about never what do your thoughts sound like?” Because when it comes to what your thinking about the music of it all with it’s instrument transcends you into a different world of imagination.

When it came to making “Secrets of the Heart” I changed “prayed in”  to “prayed to” Because “In” is stationary, as where “to” is fluid and sometimes when your heart feels heavy your no longer just meditating your begging for your heart and mind to tell you why you are feeling this way, what truly made you feel this way , and when it’ll end.

This quote reminds me of the prayers that have been said around the world, around the clock.

When we pray in silence, when we pray aloud.

For those who aren’t religious praying can also be translated to hope, or even a way of manifestation. And by changing “prayed in” to “prayed to,” it’s to honour the words unspoken. ( like praying “to” god/s) I’ll pray for you can even be translated to “ I will keep you in my mind”

“closed my eyes and prayed to the silences of my soul.”

When life is chaotic, sometime it is best to go inwards and hold your heart and pray, meditate. Praying doesn’t have to be where you’re hoping for something that hasn’t happened, but also to keep the people and animals around or far from you, but most importantly your heart, safe and protected.( Of course to honor your respected God/gods to the live they have created) Such a tender and intimate action. I find myself holding my hands together when I get worried, when I say thanks, but maybe that’s just cultural.

This sticker sheet has an imperfect star,  when you look at it the top seems rounded but when you peel it, it has a bit of a divet to it, because like life- things are not what it seems yet… It can be beautiful with it’s imperfections. Although I have thought about changing the star shape.

My intentions with this sticker sheet falls under the idea that anything can be use what you see it as rather than what it’s meant for when it comes to physical material. My parents taught me that you gotta use what you got and came with the silliest yet inventive inventions.

“Secrets of the Heart Sticker Sheet” can be use as an statement, on a card to confess your feelings, a notebook of love letters you’ll never send, the little lace flowers and circles can be use as annotation, or to label your items, the lucky is spilt into each letter individually, you can use it as a chart to talk about what you want in life, “L for Love, U for Unity, C for Creation and etc

And lastly

The big quote to use as a journal prompt. Bringing a subtle color to your journal entry.

Write what you pray silently about, what do you say to yourself when no one, not even your own conscious is paying attention?

What’s a secret you kept in your heart?

Some of my favorite quotes from

“ Secret of the Heart” that makes me shiver in such awe.

PAGE 13:

“He is only a memory now, for he walks no longer the high paths of this earth, but his words live among us still and they lead us back to another time, to another place.”

—- This made me reflect on how people and things and experience can become memories after a while but may the lessons we learn from them live among us

“Your Truth shall meet my Truth and bled together like the fragrance of flowers and become one whole and eternal Truth perpetuating and living in the eternity of Love and Beauty.”

“Humanity, which you and I together share, is a brilliant river singing is way, and carrying with it the mountains secrets into the heart of the sea”

“Life is that which we see and experience through the spirit; But the world around us we come to know through understanding and reason.”

“If we suffer, our pain lies not in our wounds but in the very heart of Nature.

Beauty is that which attracts the soul and that which loves to give and not receive.”

“He who loves the light will be loved by the light.

For the eternal soul is never contented; it ever seeks exhaustion.”

my annotations for this quote is “ for those who sees the world in beauty, beauty will seek them out. and that content is grasping for a feeling only we can achieve by mindfulness.

“My soul preached to me and taught me to listen to the voices, which the tongue and the larynx and the lips do not utter.” Before my soul preached to me, I heard only clamor and wailing.”

Tell me that is not the most beautiful, I feel as music is the same which in where when you can’t understand your soul music and visual art comes in and translates it for you.

“The first look between lover and beloved divides the intoxication of life from the awakening. It is the first flame that lights up the inner domains of the heart. —

—It opens Eternity’s secrets of the future.

It is the bond that unites the strangeness of the past with the brightness of the future; the link between the silence of feeling and thier song.”
