“Call Me When You Can!”
The theme behind this project is : nothing should fit in a box.
Art is never just the artist’s interpretation. But also the interpretation of the eye of the beholder. Take it as you see it and only then it’ll become a treasure just for you.
Sometimes it’s hard for us to know what to say, or what to do when someone you know is going through something because you’ll sound like a broken record repeating the same 3 lines of “ it’ll be okay, it’ll get better, and you got this”
Sometimes those words do get thorough at the right time. Sometimes sharing a song tells the very thing you want to convey to whoever you want to hear it.
Or sometimes it’s a funny card that you saw at a random store, or something that reminds you of them.
All these things are ways we express in a form where we can convey how we feel when our thoughts suddenly blank out.
“ hold me tender”
These prints and postcards are designed to write on top of the artwork, to put glue or tape pictures near the empty spaces before you frame them to gift.
It can even be for yourself! It is inspired by the people who frames letters up as a reminder of the love they have or pictures of your loved ones hung up on your fridge or the wall.
There’s also a customisable aspect. It also is yours to keep or yours to gift.
It can be a love letter to your friend, your sibling, your lover, your parents, your penpal and even yourself!
It can be a reminder to yourself for the future you, present you and past you.
Sometimes a reminder written by our best selves can remind you that it truly will be okay.
Without war there won’t be peace like Kahlil Gibran once said.
“Listen Closely!”
“Listen Closely!” is one of my favorites,
Because my interpretation is for the audience to hand write a playlist! + if you wanted use the space to write a mini message you can always add a qr code for the playlist-
Because sometimes words are left unsaid, or comes out wrong or you feel that the passion is just not gonna come across right with just words.
But music is universal it can heal a broken heart.
This is for you to put a playlist of your current life story to memorialize this very moment of your life. Or it’s for you to share a playlist to another.
I know, I did add “ Please don’t be sad” I’ve thought about taking it off because it restricts it to that moment.
But there is beauty in sadness, you learn so much when your sad it’s an emotion that taps into your innerworld that you can’t really explain to others.
But I also made this when I was really sad and the only thing getting me through was music. So I wanted to share this sentiment of how music can really heal.
“Protecting the Heart”
Sometimes your little sibling becomes your big sibling. Sometimes you or your friend have to grow bigger to make sure other is okay.
People always say relationships aren’t just 50/50 but the scale eventually evens out. Some of us fall harder at different times but as friends and family or lover you step up and help carry a load.
“I got you” was what a friend said that made me teary eye in my brain, it changed everything. It healed things I didn'’t even realize I struggled with.
Sometimes your friend/sibling goes silent because something is happening internally and it is okay to give them space and let them come back to you, spiritually you are in one world.
It is so important to help protect a heart , even with their guards up.
The more we grow, we learn that each story has more layers than it meets the eye.
Each detail has nuance.. the more we age the more we grow to understand that nothing is truly what they seem - and that’s the beauty of it.
Intentionality is super important especially when it comes to collecting things we bring into our lives.
The home we build can be forever, or even temporary but when we find a place to nest, we tend to collect objects such as art, prints, trinkets, clothes, furniture etc through what we find beautiful and how it makes us feel.
Although our world has become entirely ran by consumerism- the best way to fight back and to be you— is to find the intentions in the things we bring into our lives.
We are at the end of the day very visual creatures, our wholes lives were built around “beauty” and it how to live up to it, I mean look, Philly is trying to be New York when we have so many great musicians and writers come out of here and our architecture is so beautiful and historic, like come on… we have the very tools in our hand to make it beautiful if we weren’t spending our money to be someone else while not taking care of ourselves and the root of our problem..
But beautiful things and wanting to be beautiful can be fun, if we choose to see it that way- the key part? it’s what YOU find beautiful not what everyone else around you find beautiful— that’s how inventions and innovation were created and inspired!
You can be inspired but are you taking inspiration as tools to build? Or are you taking inspiration as print and copy to rehearse?
The nuance I said earlier in the header also goes for objects itself. Just because something is made to do something specifically doesn’t mean you are bond to the rules and can’t come up with a creative way to use it another way. Also just believe in the possibilities baby.
(#reduce, reuse, recycle) ( the world is truly your oyster)
We’ve always known this sentiment but we start to understand that more and more with each individual experience we have in life.
